Coach Knows Best

"If at first you don't succeed try doing what your coach told you the first time.." I'm sure you've heard this quote before, however it tends to get lost in the desire to PR, act like a Games athlete and out do others around you. Your coaches know what they're doing, they are experienced athletes in their own right and have accomplished the necessary tasks, hours and tests to become a CrossFit coach. More importantly despite what you might think they do want you to excel and be the best athlete you can be - and that is why they will sometimes hold you back. The best way to progress is to remain injury free, develop correct technique and know when to push and when to hold back. Your coaches are there to guide you through this process, after training for some time you will have the skills to do this yourself however as the quote says, "coach knows best." So if they tell you to drop your weight, scale up your weight, repeat a movement or push harder - they are doing it for YOU and your betterment.
